We're not saying goodbye to the Summer yet! Top up your feelgood factor with our selection of new music out this week.

We’re back with our top 5 picks this week, curated especially for you- the discerning punk listener!

As the Summer starts to wind down and we pack the barbecues away, there’s no need to despair. Because the punk world has gifted us another great selection of new music this week and we’ve rounded up 5 picks that we think you’ll love. So have a listen!

The Low Sixes- ‘Turn On the Night‘

It is not an overstatement to say that this song has been on constant repeat for the last week. This new track by Montreal’s punk-injected power pop band is an absolute triumph! ‘Turn on the Night‘ is a rousing and impeccably crafted rock anthem (and I’m not using that word lightly). The sing-a-long chorus and the clap-a-long drums are held together by the piercing guitar riffs, all delivered alongside some pretty uplifting lyrics. If you like what you hear with this track, put this date in your diary- 4th October. That’s when the band release their debut LP ‘The Oshawa Tree‘ released via Forge Again Records. You can pre order HERE.

Laura Jane Grace- ‘Baby Baby‘

There’s a (welcome) spate of record labels celebrating big anniversaries with compilations this year (last week we gave you a track from Hopeless Records’ ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You‘ comp) and Chicago’s Red Scare Industries is next in line! ‘20 Years Of Dreaming And Scheming’  features brand new tracks from The Menzingers, Laura Jane Grace, Dead To Me, The Falcon, Cobra Skulls and many more. This week the label have shared the video from Laura Jane Grace and The Mississippi Medicals, covering the 2012 track ‘Baby, Baby‘ from Red Scare alumni The Sidekicks. Grace said of the choice of song: “The Sidekicks were on Red Scare records and we did a full U.S. tour with them back in 2014. That’s my favorite one of their songs.” At Punk Rock Philosophy, we are LOVING these compilations and seeing some of our old fave tracks being given a new twist by some of our favourite artists. ‘20 Years Of Dreaming And Scheming’ is out on 6th September. You can pre order HERE.

Go Betty Go- ‘Party At Sea‘

Los Angeles-based Go Betty Go is set to release their new EP, ‘Black & Blue‘, via Wiretap Records on September 13. The EP features six tracks, one of which is ‘Party At Sea‘ a super fun and rollicking song that gives us serious squad goals. The lyrics promise us a “furious good time” in ture Go Betty Go style, and the infectious ‘woah ohs’ and badass riffs certainly deliver that. ‘Party At Sea‘ is accompanied by a visually sumptuous video that sees the band partying on a lavish ship, the perilous weather not enough to stop them bringing the goods. You can pre save the new EP HERE.

The Black Pacific- ‘I Think I’m Paranoid‘

Jim Lindberg, lead singer and songwriter for long running California skate punk band, Pennywise, has recorded an 11-song album with his side project band, The Black Pacific. Titled ‘Here Comes Our Wave‘, the LP will be released on September 20th via Toronto based Dine Alone Records. But in the meantime, we’ve been given a taster of what’s to come with new single ‘I Think I’m Paranoid‘. This will be the first album by The Black Pacific since their self-titled debut in 2010, and so there’s 14 years of tumultuous politics and global events to cover and clearly no shortage of material. ‘I Think I’m Paranoid‘ has the kinetic energy and punk sensibilities that we’d expect from Lindberg, a track that speaks of the oppressive feelings of living alongside violence, terrorism, hatred and divisiveness. It’s certainly topical and Lindberg describes the track as “it’s basically just a panic attack with distorted guitars at 120 Beats Per Minute.” You can pre order ‘Here Comes Our Wave‘ HERE.

All Feels- ‘Possessed‘

Massachusetts indie-pop band All Feels have got a little gem here with their new single ‘Possessed‘. Lead vocalist and guitarist Candace Clement describes the new single as a “coming-of-age bop for the elder millennial crowd — a 90s-inspired reflection on growing older and growing out of the things you once loved, as well as the often unbreakable connections we have to habits we try to shake.” The track has a sugary sweet vibe thanks to Clement’s light and charming vocals but there’s a steeliness in the smart and insightful lyrics that give this fuzzy indie track a lot of depth. The band are releasing their album ‘This Place is a Message’ on October 4th via Flower Sounds. Pre order HERE.

And that’s all for this week folks! Hope you found something you love in this list and as always, support the artists by pre saving/pre ordering/ listening/ sharing etc!

See you next week 🙂
