We’re back and as penance for being a little while since we brought you our picks of the brand new music, we’ve got a bumper edition this time!

The Dirty Nil- ‘Rock N Roll Band‘
Canadian punk stalwarts The Dirty Nil are back with a little taster from their upcoming album in the shape of new track ‘Rock N Roll Band‘. Frontman Luke Bentham explains that this was the first track he penned for their new LP ‘The Lash‘ and it tells tales of life on the road ‘with your friends in a broken van’ whilst your loved ones are ‘worried sick‘. “I don’t remember what particular aspect of the industry had got my goat that day but I’d worked myself up to a fine lather. I blasted out the whole song in 30 minutes and instantly felt better” said Bentham. ‘The Lash‘ is described as a cathartic ‘short, sharp blast of rage and reflection‘- something I’m sure we can all do with right now. ‘The Lash’ is out on July 25 via Dine Alone Records. Scarlet Bandit- ‘Best Friends Forever‘
SoCal pop punks Scarlet Bandit have released a quintessential power pop Summer anthem with new track ‘Best Friends Forever‘. This will end up in your head whether you want it to or not, with an almost perfect melodic chorus and foot stomping verse. Discussing the story behind the track, front-person Jade Vitriol shares: “”Best Friends Forever” is a song about being betrayed by someone you trusted. It’s the feeling of not being able to blame them completely because the signs were always there, so you end up landing somewhere between “f*ck you” and “I should’ve known”.” I think this might be my favourite chorus of the year so far.
Laura Jane Grace- ‘Wearing Black‘
With a music video directed, produced and edited by award-winning indigenous filmmaker Emily Esperanza, Laura Jane Grace is firing on all cylinders with new track ‘Wearing Black‘. Not only are the accompanying visuals deliciously sensual and celebratory, but the song itself is a raucously defiant ear worm. Laura Jane Grace has always managed to skilfully and intelligently weave together the fun and the serious. Peppered amongst this tracks lyrics that are joyous in tone- “it’s a beautiful day/all the queens are coming out to play“- are little nuggets that remind us this joy is an act of resistance in itself- “My pride’s a riot, it’s not a parade”. Grace is joined by Paris Campbell Grace on vocals. This track is taken from Grace’s upcoming album, ‘Adventure Club‘ which is out July 18, 2025 via Polyvinyl Records. Pre-save/pre order HERE.
M.U.T.T- ‘Toughest Street in Town‘
San Francisco punk outfit M.U.T.T. have got a new album ‘Toughest Street In Town‘ out on 20th June via Quiet Panic Records, and they’ve let loose the title track for our listening pleasure. Loud, fast and reckless, the band’s sound reflects the chaos and grit of the San Francisco streets that they call home. As frontman John Jr explains: “I don’t fear my neighbourhood—I’m inspired by it. You gotta have a tough presence and a tough mind to survive here. Some people wouldn’t last a week. That’s why I love it.” If you think you’re tough enough, then give this track a listen HERE.
Lot Lizards- ‘Broken Parts‘
Formed in 2021, Lot Lizards are on the cusp of releasing their debut album ‘The Horrors of Adulting‘ arriving July 25th on Punkerton Records. Get yourself ready for what is sure to be a high-energy banging full length release by getting your ears around their new single ‘Broken Parts‘. It is just under 3 minutes of early 00s-inspired punk rock intensity with a rollicking drum beat serving as the backdrop to raw and emotional lyrics on a very personal topic. “Broken Parts is the punk anthem for anyone coming to terms with the slow breakdown of the people we love,” says frontman Jon Barnes. “It’s about my father, who is struggling with Parkinson’s disease. It’s heavy and deeply personal, but there’s also catharsis in facing that reality head-on.” Stream the track HERE and pre save the new album HERE.
Sunbendr- ‘Stick Up‘
Something quite eclectic now with the new offering from San Diego’s Sunbendr. It is a gritty and dark track with a swirling psychedelic twang….at least at the beginning. Then it morphs into something much more uplifting and gentle. Then BOOM, it’s back to a riff-driven alt-rock segment- this track will keep you on your toes. Because of this, it is difficult to pigeonhole where this sits genre-wise but who cares? It’s a banger of a track with a whole lot of dynamic tension and changing vocal leads. Stream it HERE.
All Feels- ‘Mess‘
And the last of our picks for this week is the gorgeous new track from Massachusetts band All Feels. The song is a catchy, country-tinged anthem that ruminates on the complex nature of friendships among young adults working to find their way in the world. Lead vocalist Candace Clement has a down to earth, soulful voice that elevates every track she sings on, putting this reviewer in mind of Kirsty MacColl. All Feels blends lo-fi pop, indie rock, and post-punk influences to craft songs about the sometimes quiet, yet often formative and devastating aspects of everyday life and relationships. As ever, this track has a melody to die for and it will give you all the feels (have I made that joke before?). Listen to and buy the track HERE.
